Priority 1: Mobility — the part that ends runs

The bus cannot take a break. Wheels chew damage on every stretch, and the late game pops them often enough that veterans treat a spare as mandatory rather than cautious:

• Inspect before you place. Press Y to identify a part and confirm what it actually does before committing it with Z.
• Craft a basic wheel early. The craft table’s wheel is the standout value, and its recipe panel is the one worth reading before you touch the rest — most of what else is craftable is skippable.
• Board fast between stops. There’s a quick-boarding path on the bus; learn it, because the seconds between loot and roll-out are when the horde closes.

Priority 2: Fuel and wheels — protect the pipeline

The efficient late-run buy is gasoline plus a coal box at the mid-run terminals — and the disciplined version of that rule is buying gas until your wallet is thin, keeping a small reserve for medium ammo. Loose coal, meanwhile, is a trap: it gives little fuel for the inventory space it eats.

Priority 3: Repairs, storage, and the bag

Once movement is safe, spend on staying safe:

• Repair items ride in the bag even when nothing’s broken yet.
• Quest objects are cargo. The rescue targets, keys, and items checkpoint clears hand you must survive the ride — dropping a quest item to fit low-rarity loot is how runs stall at a gate. NPCs left behind teleport to the bus, but the run still has to get there.
• One reliable melee (the iron sword lasts to the endgame) plus matching ammo for your gun.

Priority 4: Weapons — only when the route is stable

With the bus rolling and the bag rational, buy guns and attachments at stations — highest rarity you can afford, attached with M. Keep the revolver regardless of what you upgrade to: it’s the final-boss weapon. Checkpoints and bosses are where firepower pays; the road between them doesn’t care what you’re holding.

The optional tier: earn it, then enjoy it

Defensive add-ons and comfort upgrades are real — after the route is stable. The test: if a zombie wave at the next checkpoint can’t end your run anymore, the upgrade is optional. If it can, the money belongs to wheels, gas, and repairs instead.
