What is the Oil Rig in Last Stop?
The Oil Rig is the ocean biome’s dungeon — a three-floor offshore platform parked out in open water, added with the 19 September update and still the richest Ocean Token source on the route. Unlike the stops you discover by driving past them, the rig is announced by the game itself. Our frame catches the road’s own title card as the platform comes into range:

Next Stop: Oil Rig — Difficulty Level ★★★☆☆. Three stars out of five is the game’s own rating, which puts the rig a full step above the roadside houses and one below the ending stops — the only dungeon on the route that gets a warning label at all. The same frame’s distance meter reads 75,020m Until Last Stop, so on the filmed run it sat roughly 75 kilometres from the ending.
This page walks the rig the way our footage does: the crossing, the three floors, the keycard-and-vault loop on each one, and the boss that fires the closing bell. Every image is a frame we extracted and verified personally; creator claims that no frame isolates stay in the narration column.
How do you reach the Oil Rig?
The rig stands off the main road in open ocean, past the point where the biome turns to water. The crossing is the first filter: the water is patrolled.

That message — That did not taste right. — is the game confirming a shark bite mid-crossing, exactly the hazard both route narrators warn about. Their advice matches: one says to jump across the water surface instead of swimming so the sharks can’t grab you, and the other, whose run we frame-verified, times the dive for the rig’s underside, where the ladders up live. Both accounts, and our crossing frame, agree the approach is the most dangerous part of the whole detour — the rig’s guards hit softer than its wildlife.
What enemies are on the Oil Rig?
Three floors, three escalations. The game’s own strings — kill feed and waypoint labels — name the roster OIL WORKER, OIL OFFICER and OIL DRILLER, with Floor 1 Officer-style waypoint tags marking each deck. Two creators add colour names over their runs (one says oilmen, oil rig officers and oil drillers; an earlier video calls them mechanic zombies), but the feed names above are the ones we can screenshot, so those lead.
Floor one is the warm-up. Our frame catches a work party of three at close range on the entry deck:

The escalation curve is consistent across both narrated runs: basics downstairs, tankier armored officers in the middle, and a top floor whose drillers soak damage — the boss-route video advises saving your bullets on the climb and letting melee do the floors, because the boss at the end wants every round you own. That same video’s trick: melee swings connect through the rig’s walls, so you can thin the ground floor from the stairwell before anyone swings back. Narration, both — but it matches the layout our frames show.
Every kill on the way up pays. Token pickup toasts of +1, +2, +4, +5 and +8 all appear across our frame set — there is no fixed per-kill payout visible anywhere, just pickups landing constantly.
How do the keycards and vaults work?
Each floor locks its best loot behind a door, and each door’s key hangs on the floor’s officer. The loop our frames document:
Floor one. Kill the officer, loot the card. Our frame catches the confirmation — Floor 1 keycard has been found — arriving together with a +4 Ocean Token toast:

The door itself is labelled Floor 1 Vault right on the steel. Open it, grab the tokens inside, climb on.
Floor two. Same shape, harder room. Our combat frame catches a white-helmeted Floor 2 Officer eating a 112-damage hit while a +2 Ocean Token toast lands, and the confirmation message follows him down:

Floor three. The vault changes color and the stakes change with it — the top-floor door is steel and red-lit:

And inside is the payoff the route video hypes as the best vault on the rig:

What does the Oil Rig pay?
Tokens all the way up — the toasts in our frames stack to +8 on a single pickup — plus whatever the vaults hold, plus bodies worth cash at the next sell terminal. The narration column puts numbers on the top end: the earlier items video says worker and officer bodies sell for $26 and $34, and the route video banks about 38 tokens in 15 minutes on a slow run without the boss, then estimates 80 to well over 100 for a full rig-plus-Kraken pass in his own faster route.
One more payout deserves its own paragraph because it is the rig’s signature drop: the katana. The items video credits a rig clear with the fastest melee weapon in the game — 42 damage a swing at 1.4 swings a second in his telling — and our vault frames show statue-grade valuables in player inventories afterwards. The katana claim is narration in our source set, so it goes to the vault page and the classes overview as context rather than a verified stat.
What happens when you clear the third floor?
The rig ends in a boss, not a door back. The moment the third-floor vault is looted, the red banner The Kraken has awakened! fires over the token toast and the water outside grows a 2,000 HP boss — our sister guide carries the frame-by-frame proof, the fight pattern as far as the footage pins it, and the narrated 30-token reward: the Kraken boss guide.
The same run also shows the out: that player, undergeared for the fight, walked away with his tokens and back to the bus. The rig pays whether or not you stay for the ending.
Is the Oil Rig worth the detour?
Put the numbers side by side and the rig is the ocean leg’s whole economy. The Ocean Spin prices a single pull at 15 tokens and the Pirate Bus pity at 750; the rig is the only repeatable source that fields that kind of money, the crossing is its only real risk, and the exit is always yours to call. If you are early on the route and still building the basics, the beginner guide loop comes first — but once your bus holds 80 kilometres of fuel, the rig is the stop the ocean biome exists for.
